The Cardiff Blues squad are very active in visiting clubs and schools around the region. A visit by Cardiff Blues Captain, Xavier Rush, and front row forward Gary Powell at Trerobart Primary School in Ynysybwl proved to be hugely enjoyable. The junior school, which is just outside Pontypridd, had invited the players to their classroom to see the special exhibition produced by the young pupils.
In addition to visiting the schools, all the players in the Blues squad are adopted by a local rugby club. Gary Powell was busy once again and turned his hand to coaching when the junior section of his adopted club, Aberdare RFC, invited him to the Ynys for an evening coaching session.
For further information on the scheme please visit the Adopt a Player page.
The Cardiff Blues also try to help out over the Christmas period. The squad visit the Children's Wards at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, the Prince of Wales Hospital, Merthyr and the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant every Christmas. These visits prove to be hugely popular with the young patients and their families.
