The Future Blues development scheme was launched in the Arms Park in November 2005.
The scheme comprises of thirteen Development Officers, with each Officer having clearly defined areas and age grades to work with.
There are 56 Rugby Clubs, 58 secondary schools and 321 primary schools within the Blues Region and each Development Officer is responsible overseeing and delivering support to the teachers and club coaches. The Development Officers also provide hands-on coaching to the pupils.
The outstanding work by our Development Officers can be seen at every Cardiff Blues home match, with half time Under 8 tag games being played between the junior sides within the region.
With the growth of the Cardiff Blues, the new Future Blues scheme encompasses Cardiff, Vale of Glamorgan, South Powys, Rhondda Cynon Taff and Merthyr Tydfil local authorities that make up the Blues region.
It is a huge area, compromising a major share of the population of Wales and thousands of potential players and supporters.
As well as the coaching in the schools and clubs the Future Blues also run holiday coaching camps for children aged between 8 and 16 which have proved hugely popular.
The Future Blues departments also carry out great work supporting local charities as well as organising hospital visits around the region.
